Sep1Written by:Website Admin 9/1/2010 3:01 PM Panama City, FL - New reports by The Hill and The Cook Political Report continue to deliver more good news for Republicans as Florida's Second Congressional District, a once considered safe Democratic seat, continues to receive "pure toss-up" ratings. Incumbent Democrat and former Blue Dog Allen Boyd is facing the toughest election cycle of his career against Republican Steve Southerland due to his support of the Obama-Pelosi agenda, most notably his flip-flop support for Obamacare and vote in favor of Cap & Trade. "These rankings and reports are reflective of what we are hearing on the ground in the district," said Southerland Campaign Manager Jonathan Hayes. "Even after spending over 2 million dollars in advertising over the last year in the district, Allen Boyd barely scraped by in winning his democratic primary. Based on these rankings and recent polling, the people of Florida's Second Congressional District seem to be saying - "we know Allen Boyd, we've had enough, and it is time to elect someone new."
Earlier polls have shown Allen Boyd down against Steve Southerland in a head to head matchup by as much as 15 points. Click here for article. "These reports are encouraging and I look forward to continuing to meet and have a dialogue with the voters of north and northwest Florida," said Southerland. "Our campaign will focus on the issues that are causing hurt and pain in the district such as fighting against the overreach of government into every area of our lives and businesses. We must put a stop to the out of control spending in D.C. and the idea that Congress can create jobs by taking money from families and businesses. Congressman Boyd wants to scare people by distorting my views and distracting us from his voting record. I believe the people should be scared--scared of the status quo that is rapidly driving our nation towards a cliff." Southerland closed by saying, "I am optimistic about the future of America and her people. We are meeting with folks all across the district who are courageous, freedom loving Americans who realize that free market principles, hard work, risk, success, failure and rewards are what made America the greatest nation the world has ever known. I believe that America's best days are ahead of her and I look forward with great excitement to what the future holds." |
